Anxiety Disorders

Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders experience intense, excessive, persistent fear, worry, or nervousness about everyday situations that can interfere with daily life. These disorders are among the most common mental illnesses and can vary in severity. Fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating and feeling tired may occur.

Mood Disorders

Mood disorders are a group of mental health conditions where there is a disconnect between actual life circumstances and the person's state of mind or feeling. It primarily affects a person’s emotional state. They involve prolonged and intense periods of sadness, elevated mood, or a combination of both. A mood disorder can negatively affect one’s ability to function normally. It can have serious consequences in all aspects of life, from personal to professional. Children, teens, and adults can all have mood disorders. However, their experience varies.

Personality Disorders

Personality disorders are a group of mental illnesses that involve long-term, inflexible, pervasive and unhealthy patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. These patterns differ from cultural norms and can cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other areas of life. People with personality disorders may have difficulty understanding emotions, tolerating distress, and relating to others. They may also act impulsively and have distorted perceptions of reality

Abuse and Trauma

Trauma and abuse, although distinct are often linked. They refer to deeply distressing experiences that overwhelm a person’s ability to cope and can have profound long-lasting effects on mental, emotional, and physical health. Their long-term effects include anxiety, stress, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, self-injury, and even suicidal ideation.

Trauma is a psychological and emotional response to an event or series of events that are deeply distressing or disturbing, such as: accidents, natural disasters, violence, war or conflict, loss of a loved one, abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect) etc.

Abuse is the act of improper usage or treatment of a person or thing, often to unfairly or improperly gain benefit. Abuse can come in many forms, such as: physical, emotional or verbal maltreatment, injury, assault, sexual offences, domestic violence, financial or other types of aggression. Neglect is a form of abuse that occurs when someone fails to provide for another person’s basic needs, such as food, shelter, medical care, or emotional support. Often seen in cases involving children or vulnerable adults.

Substance Abuse

Substance abuse refers to the excessive or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol, drugs (both prescription and illicit), and other substances that can alter the brain’s chemistry and lead to physical or psychological dependency, addiction, or negative consequences that is detrimental to self, society, or both.

Couple/Marital Therapy

Marital discord refers to persiatent painful conflict, dissatisfaction, or lack of harmony and agreement in a marriage, often leading to conflicts and dissatisfaction Its range can be seen in frequent arguments, general feelings of unease, trust issues, or a lack of intimacy, deep emotional disconnect to considering separation. It can significantly impact the well-being of both partners and any children involved. Therapy provides structured space to explore these issues and can help improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection.

Stress Management

It involves identifying stress triggers is the practice of using relaxation techniques and strategies to cope with emotional or physical tension, managing your time, seeking social support, and even modifying your physical environment to create a more calm space.

Anger Management

Anger can become a mental health issue when it feels out of control, harms one’s relationships, affects health, or leads to aggressive or destructive behavior. Anger management involves understanding, controlling, and expressing anger in a healthy way. It's a process of learning to recognize your anger, identify triggers, and develop coping skills to manage your emotions and reactions. It's not about suppressing anger but about channeling it constructively.
